| Waterworks Park Memorial Marine City, Michigan |
| What you are seeing below is the columination of a great deal of fundraising throughout 2008. When the Marine City VFW Post was disbanded due to a lack of membership, they were welcomed into the Algonac Post with open arms. Since that time, Algonac has taken the responsibility of maintaining the Veteran Honors for both cities. Algonac has Proudly marched in their Memorial Day Parades and Honored our Fallen Comrades in both cities each year. Since Marine City is as much a part of the Post as Algonac, we wanted to find a way to show the greatest Honor we could to the city as a whole as well as to our Fallen Comrades. . Marine City already had a memorial; it was bestowed unto the city by the Lion's Club in 1959. Mr. Roger Brady [Chaplain of the original Marine City Post] noted that the Fallen were not recogized. This meant there was no way of seeing who had given all for their Country, their Family, their Friends and their Community as a whole. It became the mission of the Algonac Post to ensure that this situation was corrected; that these brave souls would not be forgotten. On Monday, 11-May-09, thisdream became a reality. The workers of Jones Monument notified James Fernandez [Post 3901 Quartermaster] that everything was ready for them to finish the monument. Following this call, Jim made his way to the monument to observe the completion of the engraving. By 1530 [3:30 PM] the work was done, and these are the pictures of the updates. |
